Our Trade Credit Policy
Each book that we take in gives you credit, up to 25% of the original cover price. Credit is like having a 50% off coupon on the used book prices.
Any credit you earn may be used to pay for up to half of the price of any used book purchases. For example, if a used book sells in the store for $4.00, you may use your trade credit to pay for $2.00 and then you would then pay the other $2.00 plus tax out of pocket.
Frequently Asked Questions
When can you look at my books?
We only process trades as staff and time allows. For this same reason, we can only look at one bag per person daily. If you have to drop off boxes it may take some time so please call ahead to schedule and we will meet you at our back door.
What kind of books do you take? Why didn't you take these books?
We are happy to look at your used books, however, we cannot guarantee to take every book you bring in. Books are checked by our database to see how many of that title we already have in the store and how well it has sold for us. We also take into account the condition of the books.
A brief guide to what we cannot take:
Hardcover books if they are older than 2 years or if a paperback edition is available (some special cases apply i.e. Bestsellers). We just don't do well selling these.
Encyclopedia sets, Readers Digest, In general no mass market sets
Harlequin/Silhouette books or textbooks
Advance Reader Copies or Uncorrected Proofs
Books with water damage, spiders, ripped or missing pages/covers
Non Fictions books that have out of date information
What do you do with books you cannot take?
Most books that we cannot accept can be donated to the Friends of the Wasilla Library, Senior Organizations and the local prisons. We cannot hold books that you have dropped off for extended period so we will have you fill out a form on your first time in letting us know to donate or call for pick up. If our space is full, we suggest donating any unwanted books to Friends of the Library or some of the local thrift stores like Turning Leaf or Salvation Army.
